Story of Persistence – There was an old lady who cried all the time. Her elder daughter was married to an umbrella merchant while the younger daughter was the wife of a noodle vendor. On sunny days she worried “about the weather being so nice and her elder daughter would be out of business for not able to sell their umbrellas.

When it rained she would cry for the younger daughter, as she was married to a noodle vendor and cannot dry the noodles without the sun, thereby no noodles to sell during the rain.

One day a monk stopped by and acknowledged the reason for the old lady’s grief.  The monk smiled kindly and said, “Madam you can be the happiest of all by just changing your perspective.”

He said, On sunny days do not think of your elder daughter not being able to sell umbrellas but think of your younger daughter being able to dry her noodles. Similarly, on a rainy day think of your elder daughter selling their umbrellas and stop worrying about your younger daughter not drying the noodles.

Finally, the old lady saw the light & didn’t cry anymore. Instead, she was smiling every day from that day on she was known as the smiling lady. In our life, everything is about our perspective. There are always two sides to a coin, it depends on what side you choose to look at.
